Notes: A CSO on patrol with a CSO trainee (CSOT) encountered non-community members with drug paraphernalia. The individuals left when asked.

Notes: A CSO responded to a report of theft from Commons. The CSO spoke with Bon Appétit employees regarding an unknown individual who they witnessed take food from the dining hall and then leave without paying. The employees provided a description of the individual for future reference.

Notes: The Community Safety Director (CSD) assisted a staff member in removing posters containing depictions of violence and firearms from the GCC doors. The report was forwarded to the Office for Institutional Diversity for further follow up.

Notes: The Community Safety Director received a forwarded email from a student who had found swastikas drawn over a poster promoting the Ukrainian Club’s movie night. The poster has been removed and the report was forwarded to the Office for Institutional Diversity for further follow up.

Notes: A Community Safety Manager (CSM) responded to a request for medical assistance at an academic building. The CSM met with a non-community member who had been injured while working at that academic building. A CSO escorted emergency medical services to the incident site, and the individual was transported to a nearby medical facility for further care.

Notes: Community Safety Dispatch received an email from a faculty member reporting targeting graffiti they had been made aware of that day. A work order has been placed for the removal of the graffiti.

Notes: A student arrived at 28 West to report that their bike had been stolen from where it had been secured at the bike rack in the Birchwood apartments parking lot. The student stated that the bike is a black painted Sport model Globe Trotter.

Notes: A CSO and CSO trainee (CSOT) on patrol of the GCC encountered unattended whipped cream canisters, the type commonly used to inhale nitrous oxide, in the Pool Hall.

Description: Medical Assist
Location: Residence Hall

Notes: A CSO and CSO trainee (CSOT) responded to a request for medical assistance at a residence hall. They met with a couple students, one of whom was suffering adverse effects after imbibing in alcohol and cannabis. After assessing the student for signs of an alcohol and other drug overdose emergency, the CSO and CSOT determined that no immediate medical intervention was necessary. The CSO recommended that the student, or the student’s friend who was accompanying the unwell student, contact the Fonemed nurse line for further advice, which the student agreed to do. After confirming that the student remained stable and was in the company of a friend, the CSOs provided the friend with a yellow card, “Signs of Alcohol or Other Drug Overdose Emergencies,” and cleared the scene.

CS Survey Responses

Every week Community Safety requests survey responses from those who've had interactions with a member of the Community Safety team. These responses are always collected anonymously with the option for the responder to leave contact information if they would like for a member of Community Safety management to contact them, and are used internally for departmental performance tracking. Community Safety has opted to publish these survey results for transparency and community accountability. *Names and pronouns mentioned in survey responses will be redacted to protect the privacy of individuals.

In addition to surveys sent directly to those who have interacted with Community Safety, the Reed community is always encouraged to independently complete the survey regarding Community Safety's performance.
