Why a job pool?
The Work-Study Job Pool makes it easier for new students with work-study to find and secure on-campus employment. This program is open to new first-year and transfer students whose financial aid packages include work-study awards. For many students, earning their work award is essential to their overall success in school. The job pool reserves positions specifically for this group of students, while also streamlining the application and hiring process for supervisors and hiring managers.
What jobs should be a part of this program?
This program is ideal for entry level jobs that can be performed by an incoming student. The job submission form will gather information from supervisors about the nature of the job and any specific time or skill requirements. If you aren't sure if a job is right for this program, reach out to the Student Work Office.
How does it work?
Supervisors and hiring managers may submit positions for the Work-Study Job Pool using at any point during the year. However, if you have positions to fill for the fall semester, you are encouraged to complete the form by Monday, August 19. If you do so, you will recieve your proposed hire's information by 5pm on Wednesday, September 4 (the first week of classes). *If you need your proposed hire's information earlier, please contact the Student Work Coordinator.
As a supervisor or hiring manager, what am I responsible for?
1. Complete the at any point during the academic year. (Priority date for fall hiring is Monday, August 19.)
2. When you receive your proposed hire's information from the Student Work Office, contact the student promptly via email.
3. Email the student an employment offer and cc studentwork@reed.edu on that email.
4. Hire the student in HireEm.
